The naturalist in me adores this book! Introduce your littlest ones to the 12 most common backyard birds through the beautiful images, background information and clear realistic sounds. Each 2 page spread features one bird. On the left, you will find the common and scientific name, a summary paragraph and specific details including location found, diet, size, description of eggs and more. The opposite side has a beautiful, lifelike image of the bird, and a “Did you know” statement. The book itself is composed of thicker, board book type pages. The sound module is encased in durable plastic and is attached to the book. Each bird’s sound button has a lifelike picture of the bird’s face that matches the image inside the book. A list of the included birds is the House Wren, American Goldfinch, Red-Winged Black Bird, Killdeer, House Finch, Great Horned Owl, Blue Jay, American Robin, Northern Cardinal, Mourning Dove, American Crow and the Song Sparrow. Don’t be surprised if your children are outside playing and come running to share the name of the bird singing from the trees! Book measures approximately 8 3/4 x 8 1/4”. ~ Deanne

Here is a fun little planning book to help you keep track of what you will do this week with your students. It is a lesson plan book, but some people like to use them to keep track of what was accomplished that day, while others like to write out in detail what will be done each day. You could give each student a plan book like this and just check it daily or weekly. Days of the week are down the left side while there are 18 divisions across the top. There is also space for student information, conference records, substitute notes, seating charts, birthdays, medical and transportation information and other useful notes. 95 pages, paperback, spiral bound. ~ Sara

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Children are never too young to be saturated in God’s word and this CD is a delightful way to fill your children’s hearts and minds with Scripture. You will appreciate the quality of the multiple musical instruments and the sweet sounds of children’s voices singing 85 verses from the Old and New Testament. Music styles range from the soft, melodic lullaby to a more up-tempo toe-tapping country sound; this may become your favorite family “go to” music for the home and car. Scriptures from NIV Bible. Truly an auditory pleasure for all ages! Twenty songs, approximately one hour in length. ~ Deanne

This unique study/devotional book does a fine job of covering much of the Bible; it is packed full of 108 family-oriented Bible lessons from Genesis to Revelation. The author makes so much of the Bible accessible to even your young ones. The Old Testament section includes much of Genesis and Exodus and most familiar stories, as well as lessons on the kings and prophets. Most of the New Testament lessons are taken from the Gospels and Acts, but each other book
is given one chapter. Begin each lesson with the provided questions to arouse interest and introduce the lesson theme. The retelling of a Biblical story follows.
Choose to read the included Biblical story or the corresponding passage in your own Bible. The next section, entitled Things to Think About, provides open-ended questions for discussion. The devotional ends with Things to Pray About, which offers unscripted prayer suggestions. Each lesson concludes with Things to Do, an activity suggestion section. Here you will find general directions for varied activity options (crafts, serving, worship, etc.). In some cases, activities are geared to particular age groups and are identified as such. Many of the craft-type activities appeared to be more elementary-aged focused: make a people collage, make an advent chain, etc. However, since these activities are
explained in general terms, you can easily tailor the activity to your own child's level. Many of these activities require supplies you would normally have around a home-school house. There are some activities that require supplies, such as
"chalk talk" and flannel board suggestions, but these are optional. There are also unique suggestions that would be appropriate for a variety of ages such as singing and dancing to praise songs or thinking of a friend and planning a time to tell him about Jesus. This book would work as a more in-depth family devotional or as a Bible curriculum in the elementary years (no tests included). 595 pp, sc. ~ Ruth
