This stand-alone version of Ticket to Ride features Germany in addition to small portions of neighboring countries. In addition to route cards, Numbered scoring tokens are placed across the board in various cities. Adding to the feel of creating actual train routes, players who connect to these cities can use "Passengers" to move along their route, going from one city to the next, picking up the highest-scoring token left in the cities. But beware - there are a limited number of tokens in each city, and other players may swoop in and take high-scoring tokens! 2-5 players.

This card-only version of Ticket to Ride is played in a similar fashion to the standard game. Players attempt to complete routes by collecting the number and color of train cards called for by tickets. Railyards and "On-The-Track" route fulfillment areas replace the board. Once cards are placed into a player's Railyard, they can move them "On The Track" in an attempt to fulfill their tickets. The main twist of the card game comes from a sort of "train monopoly," where players are only allowed to play more of the same color of train into their Railyard that an opponent has already played. For this reason, timing and planning is important- if another player plays more trains of the same color into their Railyard, other players are forced to discard their trains of that color!

Ticket to Ride has gone international! This mega version of Ticket to Ride adds a new dimension to the game: boats. Players now must calculate their routes with the added necessity of collecting "Sail" cards (the boat equivalent of Train cards). While this may seem like a minor change at first, boats allow players to cross continents and connect tickets in unexpected ways! Harbors and Tour Tickets (tickets which require several cities to be connected in a row) add another way to gain points, making the game quite a bit more strategic. Play either side of the double-sided board: the whole world or the Great Lakes area. ~ Stephen

Expand your train line all the way from Denmark to the northern frontier of Europe, building throughout Norway, Sweden, Finland, and a small portion of Russia and Estonia. The cold isn't the only danger in Scandinavia, though—narrow, remote routes occupy much of Western Norway and Northern Finland, with few connections directly across the map. Imitating the rough, mountainous geography are numerous tunnel and ferry routes stretching across much of the map. Perhaps some of those high-value tickets stretching across the mainland can help Sweden the deal… 2-3 players.

You are a member of a noble family leveraging for power in European courts, ousting kings and dukes alike in favor of those partial to your cause. In this Ticket-to-Ride-like game, players take turns drawing and playing sets of colored cards (representing England, France, Germany, and Spain) to place nobles in cities throughout Europe. Intrigue Cards allow players to depose opponent’s nobles and place their own! This adds a wonderful layer of strategy and tension to the game. Acquire the most victory points by placing nobles in key cities and earning bonuses. Being the first player to acquire a noble in a city, having a noble in every city of a country, and having one of each type of noble (Marshal through King) earns bonuses. Three “Time Periods” also divide the game and allow for scoring: whoever is the most and second-most influential in a country gains major bonuses. When three periods are completed, final scoring takes place and the player with the most victory points wins. 2-5 players; 60 minutes.

This casual, easy-to-learn game is sure to inspire lots of laughs as your family members try to outdo each other with crazy answers! It requires a minimal amount of equipment, so it's also the perfect game for holiday get-togethers and game nights. The game contains six dry-erase boards, six dry erase markers, a dry erase scoreboard, 12 tokens, 60 question cards (with 360 questions), a "Select-O-Matic 6000" and instructions. Each round one player acts as judge and reads a question like "What would make car rides more fun?" Each of the other players writes an answer they think the judge will like (such as "karaoke") on their dry erase board. Then the judge reads all of the answers and secretly chooses his/her favorite, using the Select-O-Matic. At this point, the other players use their tokens to guess which answer the judge picked. When the judge reveals his/her answer, players who guessed that answer win points, as well as the player who wrote the answer. Play continues with a new judge and the game is over when the scoreboard is full. Although the winner is technically the player with the most points at the end of the game, I doubt any "loser" will feel like one! For 3-6 players.

Ever wished for a life that's different than the one you have? This game may make you appreciate the things you take for granted now – and give you a lot of laughs along the way! You and other players will compete to make the best or worst life for another player (this is a rotating role!) with the cards you are dealt. Lifestyles are composed of 5 areas: location, accommodation, transportation, occupation, and companion. How would you like to live in the Arctic, in a Tool Shed, with some chickens for company, riding a tricycle, and working as a Street Performer? Additional cards allow for a bit of strategy and instigate trading cards or drawing new cards, but winning this game will rely mostly on luck…and on how well you know the other players! 3-8 players, game time is approximately 30 minutes. ~ Megan

Crack those knuckles and dust off the mind - it time to test your visual speed and memory! Each player (up to 4) gets a tray with 16 cubes. The cubes all have the same arrangement of patterns on each ride: dots, solids and triangles. In round 1, the top pattern card is turned over and players race to match the pattern. First player to correctly do so wins the card. Round 2 is slightly different: flip the card over and then roll all of your cubes like dice, using only the side that's rolled up. You can re-roll as much as needed, but only the fastest player will win! In round three, players get 10 seconds to memorize the card, and then must use any side of their cubes to recreate the pattern from memory. The player with the most cards after 3 sets of 3 rounds wins the game. Speedy and challenging, it is easy to learn, but challenging to play. 120 pattern cards are included.

Sherlock Holmes would have loved it! Mr. X tries to elude capture on the streets of London as detectives (other players) pursue him via taxi, bus, and subway. The net tightens as Mr. X must reveal his position periodically throughout the chase. Ahh, but he has a few tricks up his sleeve and deftly slips through the "holes" by playing his special cards or catching a boat ride on the river Thames. Detectives must work together to thwart his escape and determine how best to trap the elusive Mr. X. Will they make brilliant deductions, or will the clever Mr. X outwit Scotland Yard's best? From 2 to 6 players, the game is more exciting with more detectives in pursuit. The game also offers an easier variation for beginners, so kids as young as eight can join in on the fun.

Will your horses take you to the winner's circle in this equestrian game? Each player starts the game with 5 horse playing markers of the same color and $3000. The game board features two horseshoe type tracks (an amateur circuit and a professional circuit) that determine which events players can enter. They hold a variety of spaces including "Horse Race," "Barrel Race," "Steeplechase," "Stud Service, "Bronc Ride," "Trivia Card," and a few other random spaces. Players place one of their markers at the start place, and use the others to compete in the different events. The board features a racetrack, barrel racing arena and 4 steeplechase courses. When a player rolls a die and lands on a space in the circuit tracks, they decide if they will compete in the corresponding event. Each event requires a substantial entry fee that will multiply if you win, but you could also lose it all! Players traveling the professional circuit must pay higher entry fees but are also entitled to larger payouts. The different events are played differently - and all of the outcomes are determined by a roll or rolls of the die/dice. Trivia cards (all horse questions, of course!) earn money for players if they are answered correctly, but there is no penalty for a wrong answer. The first player to collect $25,000 is the winner. So mount up and get ready to ride...for the win! 2-4 players, game time is approximately 30-45 minutes. ~ Megan

A pet pig, a hovercraft ride, Grandpa's crutch collection, an invisibility potion: what would be the best gift, and what would be the worst? It depends whose birthday it is! Similar to the very popular Apples to Apples game, players are dealt 5 cards, and one person is the judge for each round. Keeping in mind the judge for that round, everyone else chooses a picture card from their hand, and then the receiver picks the best gift and the worst gift. The players who gave those gifts each score a point, and the first person to get five points wins. What will you get on your birthday? (Please note that there are a few cards that some parents may want to remove, such as Trip to Hogwarts, Caveman Skull, Stay at a Haunted Hotel, and the Shorts card.) Includes 150 full-color cards in a box. -Laura

If you have a comic book reader, the Adventure Bible Handbook might be a great way to interest them in reading stories from the Bible. Travel with the children of an archeologist throughout the Holy Land as they go in search of their missing father. In their quest to find Dad, they travel back in time with unusual tour guides who use RSP (really smart phones) devices to reach their destinations. They travel by hang glider, camel, kayak, and more, learning first-hand about places and events along the way. As unusual as this approach might seem, the Adventure Bible Handbook takes children on a chronological tour of major events. After meeting all the characters of the story, begin at the Garden of Eden, then go to the flood and see how large the ark really was; visit the Tower of Babel, meet Abraham and his family, then travel with Joseph to Egypt before moving on through other Bible events. For each stop in the story, you will not only read about the group of travelers, there will be photos of the area, items found there, explanation of unusual terms, and a Bible summary of that particular event. There may also be a scripture quotation (NIrV unless otherwise noted) or reference, so you can read more on the subject. The good news is that the children find their father, but they learn so much as they are searching.

Some great resources are also found in this handbook. In the front of this 240-page hardcover book is a list of the pages on which you can find references to the books of the Bible (chronologically) and a list of the stories that are covered in the Adventure Bible Handbook. The back of the book includes a reading guide to the Bible, the Apostles' Creed, scripture index that tells you the page of the handbook on which you can find a particular scripture, a subject index, and a guide to the images (photos) used in the handbook. Your child can also access games and activities to accompany their Adventure Bible Handbook at www.AdventureBible.com.

Use the Adventure Bible Handbook to get your child interested in God's Word and to introduce them to the adventure and excitement of the events that are foundational to the Christian faith. ~ Donna
