This stand-alone version of Ticket to Ride features Germany in addition to small portions of neighboring countries. In addition to route cards, Numbered scoring tokens are placed across the board in various cities. Adding to the feel of creating actual train routes, players who connect to these cities can use "Passengers" to move along their route, going from one city to the next, picking up the highest-scoring token left in the cities. But beware - there are a limited number of tokens in each city, and other players may swoop in and take high-scoring tokens! 2-5 players.

This card-only version of Ticket to Ride is played in a similar fashion to the standard game. Players attempt to complete routes by collecting the number and color of train cards called for by tickets. Railyards and "On-The-Track" route fulfillment areas replace the board. Once cards are placed into a player's Railyard, they can move them "On The Track" in an attempt to fulfill their tickets. The main twist of the card game comes from a sort of "train monopoly," where players are only allowed to play more of the same color of train into their Railyard that an opponent has already played. For this reason, timing and planning is important- if another player plays more trains of the same color into their Railyard, other players are forced to discard their trains of that color!

Ticket to Ride has gone international! This mega version of Ticket to Ride adds a new dimension to the game: boats. Players now must calculate their routes with the added necessity of collecting "Sail" cards (the boat equivalent of Train cards). While this may seem like a minor change at first, boats allow players to cross continents and connect tickets in unexpected ways! Harbors and Tour Tickets (tickets which require several cities to be connected in a row) add another way to gain points, making the game quite a bit more strategic. Play either side of the double-sided board: the whole world or the Great Lakes area. ~ Stephen

Expand your train line all the way from Denmark to the northern frontier of Europe, building throughout Norway, Sweden, Finland, and a small portion of Russia and Estonia. The cold isn't the only danger in Scandinavia, though—narrow, remote routes occupy much of Western Norway and Northern Finland, with few connections directly across the map. Imitating the rough, mountainous geography are numerous tunnel and ferry routes stretching across much of the map. Perhaps some of those high-value tickets stretching across the mainland can help Sweden the deal… 2-3 players.

Any time you try something new, it's always a good idea to do your homework first! Horses can be timid animals and look to you for guidance, so the more you know, the calmer you'll be, the better horsemanship you'll show, and the better partnership you'll have with your horse. I started riding at 11 years old and this delightful step-by-step guide about the world of horses and horseback riding would have been a valuable tool. With large colorful photos, simple informative text, and labeled diagrams of concepts, this book is a joy to read and comprehend. Subjects range from what to wear, to grooming and tack, to proper mounting and dismounting, to learning the various gaits of a horse, to events performed on horseback, and more. The book focuses on the English riding style with some Western sprinkled throughout, but the main message of good horsemanship is universal no matter your riding style preference. Divided into four sections—"Before You Start," "Getting Ready to Ride," "In the Saddle," and "More Fun with Horses"—this guide would be a joy to anyone who has just started, getting ready to start, or has been dreaming about starting horseback riding. 64 pgs, hc. ~ Emily

The things that Lisa, her older sister Ruth, her younger sister Annie, and her mother had to endure is incredible. They lived in Berlin in 1938 when the Nazis were first starting to take over. Lisa's father, who is referred to as Papa, decides in the very beginning of this story to leave Germany and establish a foundation for his family in America. Meanwhile, life in Berlin is getting more dangerous for Jewish people, and as the threat of war is turning into reality, Papa sends a letter over, suggesting that his wife and their daughters flee to Switzerland, masking the emigration as a vacation. Mother is allowed to bring only 10 marks per person with her, which puts her in a very challenging financial situation. She keeps Annie with her and is forced to send Ruth and Lisa to a camp where there are other children in similar situations or without parents at all. The girls don't get enough to eat and don't have the kind of care that all children need. After they visit their mother, she senses this and takes them out of the camp. Pretty soon, all three girls are sent to live with three different families in Zurich, where they are well-nourished and thrive. Mother collapses from pneumonia and spends this time in the hospital. She recovers and the family is on their way to being reunited with their father, whom they have not seen for nearly a year by this time, as he has been saving for their tickets to America. Sonia Levitin tells a touching, and very real story, that I am sure was sadly not uncommon.

If you have a comic book reader, the Adventure Bible Handbook might be a great way to interest them in reading stories from the Bible. Travel with the children of an archeologist throughout the Holy Land as they go in search of their missing father. In their quest to find Dad, they travel back in time with unusual tour guides who use RSP (really smart phones) devices to reach their destinations. They travel by hang glider, camel, kayak, and more, learning first-hand about places and events along the way. As unusual as this approach might seem, the Adventure Bible Handbook takes children on a chronological tour of major events. After meeting all the characters of the story, begin at the Garden of Eden, then go to the flood and see how large the ark really was; visit the Tower of Babel, meet Abraham and his family, then travel with Joseph to Egypt before moving on through other Bible events. For each stop in the story, you will not only read about the group of travelers, there will be photos of the area, items found there, explanation of unusual terms, and a Bible summary of that particular event. There may also be a scripture quotation (NIrV unless otherwise noted) or reference, so you can read more on the subject. The good news is that the children find their father, but they learn so much as they are searching.

Some great resources are also found in this handbook. In the front of this 240-page hardcover book is a list of the pages on which you can find references to the books of the Bible (chronologically) and a list of the stories that are covered in the Adventure Bible Handbook. The back of the book includes a reading guide to the Bible, the Apostles' Creed, scripture index that tells you the page of the handbook on which you can find a particular scripture, a subject index, and a guide to the images (photos) used in the handbook. Your child can also access games and activities to accompany their Adventure Bible Handbook at www.AdventureBible.com.

Use the Adventure Bible Handbook to get your child interested in God's Word and to introduce them to the adventure and excitement of the events that are foundational to the Christian faith. ~ Donna

A straight-forward, comprehensive instruction for parents who'll be teaching—or clocking those required driving hours—with their teen. Statistics show that one out of 2 new teen drivers will have a crash in the first 6 months after getting their license. This fact should encourage us to pass on good driving skills. The instructor, Mike Pehl, has over 20 years' experience as insurance crash investigator, so his focus is on teaching teens to drive defensively. 12 lessons range from getting started to safe driving after getting the license, plus a bonus segment on distracted driving. The DVD draws careful attention to safe driving skills and crash avoidance. To reinforce the importance of safety, Mike shares personal stories tactfully and shots are filmed while driving. A life-long investment! ~ Ruth

This book combines a thorough explanation and account of the Underground Railroad with related hands-on activities for a wonderful study especially for kids. The book is divided into six chapters, each one covering a different aspect of the Underground Railroad. First, students learn about the passengers themselves - the slaves. Then, students will learn about the different roles of the people who ran the Railroad - the ticket agents and railroad operators, the conductors, the stationmasters, and the brakemen. The lives of the fleeing slaves depended upon all of these people, and each position was very dangerous. Lastly, students will read about the end of the line, when slavery was finally abolished. The text includes dozens of firsthand narratives from escaped slaves and abolitionists, as well as thirty brief biographies about people such as Harriet Tubman, William Still, Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, and Harriet Beecher Stowe. Pictures are interspersed throughout the book. As for the hands-on activities, these are found throughout the chapters and include writing and decoding secret messages, designing a hiding place, making homemade hoecakes, and learning to navigate by the North Star. 164 pgs. - Melissa
