This edition, translated by Robert Fitzgerald translation is my personal favorite, perhaps because it is the first I read, or maybe because the poetry seems to flow better than other translations. Publisher's description: We've all heard about the classics and assume they're great. Some of us have even read them on our own. But for those of us who remain a bit intimidated or simply want to get more out of our reading, Crossway's Christian Guides to the Classics are here to help.

In these short guidebooks, popular professor, author, and literary expert Leland Ryken takes you through some of the greatest literature in history while answering your questions along the way.

    Each book:

    • includes an introduction to the author and work
    • explains the cultural context
    • incorporates published criticism
    • defines key literary terms
    • contains discussion questions at the end of each unit of the text
    • lists resources for further study
    • evaluates the classic text from a Christian worldview.

This guide opens up Homer's The Odyssey and highlights the universal themes of endurance and longing for rest as displayed in this epic tale of a man trying to find his way home.

This beautifully designed timeline package is designed to accompany the History Odyssey program and includes four timelines: Ancients (6000 BCE - AD 500), Middle Ages (AD 500 - 1600), Early Modern (AD 1600 - 1850) and Modern Times (AD 1850 - Present Day). Although timelines are blank for the student to record events, they are printed in full-color and feature small graphics sprinkled here and there. To keep entries organized, each timeline is divided into seven category sections including: Men & Women, Inventions & Discoveries, Wars & Conflicts, Eras & Dynasties, Art & Literature, General Events, and Treaties/Agreements. Each timeline is five feet in length, features evenly spaced date lines, and can be displayed on a wall or hole-punched and placed into a binder. An optional Prehistory Timeline is also available if you would like to add a segment covering 2 million BCE to 7000 BCE (item #39409) Also, the optional timeline sticker pack is still available (#42770) which features 200 black-and-white stickers of famous people and events from 6000 BCE to present day.

This Perennial Classics edition contains a modern translation by Richard Lattimore, a renowned translator of classical Greek literature. The introduction provides an overview of the basic story of how "Odysseus spent ten years fighting at Troy, and another ten years getting home."
