Designed for the younger children in your family, this 24 jumbo-piece puzzle is perfect for little hands. Puzzle pieces measure approximately 6-8" in length and are made of sturdy cardboard, slightly thicker than the Human Anatomy Floor Puzzle from Melissa and Doug (#18147) for older children. Fully and realistically illustrated, this double-sided puzzle contains skeletal structure on one side and organs/blood vessels on the other. Major bones and organs/vessels are labeled. Completed puzzle measures 4 ft. in length. Cardboard box includes carrying handle for easy portability. ~ Deanne

This adorable set is a great way for your children to be introduced to human anatomy. The 28 page, oversized book (7.5x14.2”) takes your child on a journey through each part of the human body – Bony Frame, muscles (On the Move), respiratory system (Deep Breath), Blood Flow, Beating Heart, digestive system (Eating), Liver & Kidneys, Brain, Nervous System, Seeing & Hearing, and Skin & Hair. Cute, animated illustrations have a lot of kid-appeal, as they learn about their body. A glossary provides a list of words with definitions that may be new to young students.

The larger, thick puzzle pieces (28) assemble to make a 38-inch floor puzzle of the human body. Even better, the unique way the pieces fit together allow you to move the limbs. Children can learn to identify the parts on their puzzle, as they read their way through the book. Pieces can be stored in the box attached to the back of the book. ~ Donna

I think "adventure" was a good choice of words to include in this whirlwind tour of the human body! This full-color, lively guide takes readers system by system through the human body, incorporating diagrams, detailed anatomy illustrations, facts, physical activities, and pencil-and-paper activities. Nine chapters cover the skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, circulatory system, respiratory system, digestive system, eyes, ears, taste and smell. Each section is several pages long, and moves from the general to the more specific in content, and wraps up with activities. In the skeletal system section, readers can examine a fully labeled skeleton, with common and anatomical names for the bones and bone groups, and read facts about our bones. The next page zeroes in on the spine, shows how the spinal bones are put together, and shows how bones support our body and protect it. The last page on bones discusses bone growth, and shows the different parts of a bone using a detailed bone diagram and a blown-up cross-section of bone. The activities for the bone section include a word puzzle using bone terminology, a match between common and scientific bone names, a word problem that asks students to try to figure out how tall they may get, and a list of places on your body you can touch to feel the different bones and joints that are hidden underneath. Although the pages are pretty busy, the book quality is excellent, and the detailed anatomy drawings are terrific. I also like that the activities and "side-bars" apply anatomy topics to kids, so they can "experience" for themselves, and think about anatomy in terms of their bodies, not just from a drawing in a book! - Jess

A fun introduction to anatomy for the young. There are five different games and two different levels of play (two different card sets) - or just use the vinyl peel-and-stick plastic body parts and Some Body boards as puzzles to familiarize children with the locations of body parts. Up to four may play. A favorite game of Mark, our science editor!

It's double-sided, with the skeletal system portrayed on one side and the major organs and blood vessels portrayed on the other, in bright, eye-catching colors. This is a great introduction to the human body and its systems. You'll remember more using this right-left brain approach as you color the pictures of the systems while you read about the body. The book uses selected drawings from the med school classic, with various parts of each drawing identified. The detailed drawings are included on the right-hand page, with text on the opposite page describing how the parts function and where they are located. The text is simple and shares essential details so students from middle school to high school will understand the basics of how the body works. Skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, digestive, and reproductive systems are all covered in a basic and easy to understand way. 128 pgs, pb.

Your knowledge of the human body and its organ systems is the only thing that will help get this body back together! If you can answer the true/false question correctly, you can place the next body part in the tray. If you can't answer, play moves to the next player. If a player draws the "Spill Your Guts" card, all the organs get returned to the organ bank and you must start all over again. Eleven colorful, plastic organs plus the rib cage are included, as are 100 true/false cards and some alternative game play ideas. For 2-4 players or teams.

    CHOKING HAZARD (1). Not <3yrs.
