As they complete her courses, Ms. Fulbright encourages students to compile a notebook to collect and display the information they are learning. She has now gone one step further by providing a format specifically adapted to the Astronomy course. This Notebooking Journal provides a place for the student to complete every assignment, to record his experiments and to display his work. Included in these non-reproducible journals are weekly lesson plans, templates for recording fascinating facts and assignments, and scripture copywork with both print and cursive practice. In addition to full-color Miniature Books options (for recording facts and information and pasting directly into the notebook), there are Take it Further ideas for lots of additional activities, projects, experiments, books or videos, all of which correlate with the lessons. Serving both as a record of the students work and as a prized reminder of acquired knowledge, these books will become a homeschooling heirloom. ~ Janice

Now your younger student can create his own history notebook and portfolio while his older sibling works on hers. Designed as a gentle introduction to both history and notebooking and very similar to the original History Portfolios, these contain more age-appropriate writing spaces as well as suggested material for three ability levels. A Parent Guide and Materials are included right in the book (back portion) but can be removed to allow the student to own his portfolio. History selections are coordinated with the Story of the World but could be used with other history materials. We expect other time periods to be added to this series in the near future. ~ Janice

Whats the right amount of poetry for a junior high student? I think youll agree that this collection is just right. Assuming the student knows the basics (e.g. rhythm, rhyme patterns, metaphor, etc.), this study provides 32 poems (one for each week) printed right in the book. The collection is eclectic; some classic, some not, but each with something to offer and the invitation to the student to slow down long enough to see, hear, and taste the world the poet has created. Following each poem is a short series of discussion questions, one of which is a vocabulary inquiry. Students are encouraged to keep a notebook with the answers and are often asked to write short paragraphs. Because answers will typically vary, theres no answer key. 105 pgs, pb
